John Mackintosh has been president of the Canterbury District Law Society
and served on the Council for seven years. He has worked on just about
every sub-committee, including the Conveyancing Committee and the Audit
Committee. He has been on the Council and the Executive Committee
of the New Zealand Law Society, was convenor of the Society’s Practice
Management Committee, and a member of the Structure Committee,
a special task force charged with investigating the reorganisation of the
New Zealand Law Society. John has been president of Riccarton Rotary.
John lectured valuation and accountancy students at Lincoln University
in Business Law, and office Practice and Ethics at the University of
Canterbury. He also established and ran “LawPrac” - a Canterbury
District Law Society course providing 40 hours of instruction each year
for junior solicitors.
